There’s not a month that goes by where I don’t love to tear through my issue of Vanity Fair. Awesome articles? Check. Fantastic photographs? Check.
But I about started hyperventilating when I opened the mailbox today, tore off the cellophane and discovered a spread by the fantabulous Peggy Sirota dedicated to Rob Pattinson, (aka, my new boyfriend …shhhh … don’t tell Nick
), Kristen Stewart and the rest of the cast from the upcoming Twilight movie.
Seriously, DOES IT GET ANY HOTTER? (and these are the outtakes … WHAT?! Shut UP!)
People, if you are still scratching your head and asking, “Twi-who?” and “What’s all the fuss about?” well, you need to jump on the band wagon. Because this movie — and these stars — are going to be HUGE. Like, remember when Titantic came out and you couldn’t escape the screaming girls clambering to breath the same air as Leonardo DiCaprio?
Yeah, this is going to be even bigger. Like, WAY BIGGER. Like teenage girls going 17th-century mob crazy bigger. Just check out this clip Nightline did on the story and the film:
Now, I read a lot of books. But I cannot recall DEVOURING a series the way I tackled the Twilight novels this summer. And then, after I read them, I developed what I affectionately refer to as the “Twilight hangover” … I pushed the books off on friends, felt like some dopey fan girl for looking at Web sites devoted to the series (of which there are plenty!) and spent a solid week unable to get those fictional characters out of my head!
My students at work tease me about my obsession because really folks, it knows no bounds. But I’ve given up on trying to hide it now. I’m like one of those guys who makes his annual trek to the Star Wars convention.
Okay, maybe not that bad — I would never don a wookie costume. Well, maybe if Rob asked me to …

wild. I haven’t read Twilight, but I grew up just outside of Forks, WA. We regularly camped and hiked in the Hoh rainforest. Guess I’ll have to read the books!
GAIL! Okay for some stupid reason when I first started using google reader, I couldn’t find the link on your blog to add you, so I didn’t, but I tried to remember to come back to your blog regularly and I failed. Andy finally pointed out that I can simply click on the RSS button *in my browser*. Argh! So anyway, I am now following you.
I’ve been meaning to read Twilight for ages, but felt like a creepy person hanging out in Young Adult in Borders, so I never did it, until last weekend, when I devoured Books 1 & 2. I am eagerly awaiting 3 & 4 to come from amazon. Sarah Brown is obsessed too! How funny! We are all going to have to have a chat to dish after the movie!
I CAN’T FREAKING WAIT!!!
Yeah, every single word of this post is so my life right now. I’ve only read the first book, but I’m already on my second trip through it, trying DESPERATELY to wait for Christmas for the other ones. I don’t know how long I can hold out. I’m dying here.
And hello, the hotness that is Robert/Edward is going to fucking kill me. And all the pictures I’ve seen of those two together are so hot, like the page might light up right in front of you at any moment. I cannot wait for the movie.
Obsessed. Seriously obsessed. Point me toward your fan boards, I’m in.
Add to the list of Twilight symptoms: having dreams about the characters! oy. Maybe that’s just my personal pain.
I couldn’t agree with you more! As an adult I have to say it was a great series and I cannot wait for the movie… but I do have a weakness for hot vampires! : )
Oh my goodness Gail, I just came across your site via Bobbi+Mike… I love your work and how your personality shows through in your writing. But I had to stop on this twilight posting and sit in aww for a few moments at the beautiful that is Robert Pattinson and those picture, Glad I’m not the only adult who loves the books and the movie
